Apple fritters are one of my favorite donuts. The crispy, crunchy exterior and fall spices hit the spot every time. I made homemade donuts once and while a fun experience, frying foods in a home kitchen is not my favorite thing. So I developed this Apple Fritter Bread that's the best of both worlds!
Apple fritters are a fall favorite that combine crispy, golden exteriors with soft, cinnamon-spiced apple centers. Each bite gives you that perfect contrast of textures: a crunchy outside with a tender, juicy filling that’s loaded with warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. The dough is lightly sweetened to let the natural flavor of the apples shine through, and once fried, each fritter is dusted with a touch of sugar or glazed for a little extra indulgence. It’s like biting into the best parts of a donut and a fresh apple pie, all in one. Pair a warm apple fritter with your morning coffee, and you've got the ultimate autumn treat!

- 1 stand mixer fitted with paddle attachment
- 1 apple peeler
- 1 glass measuring cup
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- ½ cup butter room temperature
- ⅔ cup sugar
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cup flour
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup milk
Apple Filling
- 2 cups apples peeled, cored and diced
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ cup brown sugar
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray loaf pan with nonstick spray.
- In a small mixing bowl combine brown sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
- In separate bowl combine flour, salt, and baking powder and set aside.
- Peel, core and dice apples and toss with remaining filling ingredients and set aside.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment cream together butter and sugar until light and creamy.
- Add eggs mixing well between each addition and then add vanilla.
- Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients, alternating with ½ cup milk. I prefer to do this step by hand to prevent over mixing.
- Pour ½ batter into loaf pan and top with ½ apple filling and brown sugar cinnamon mixture. Top with remaining batter and top with remaining apple filling and brown sugar cinnamon mixture.
- Place pan in preheated oven and bake for approximately 1 hour until toothpick inserted in the center comes out with only a few crumbs. Allow to cool before slicing.
