A Taste of Home
My interest in baking has deep familial roots. My grandmother was an excellent baker and passed her talent to my mom. I recall baking lessons in the kitchen with my mom all throughout childhood. With a family of 8 on one income, money was limited to say the least. That meant snacks and treats were largely homemade. Holidays brought even more family members and ample baking to feed them all.
As an adult I worked in various restaurants, holding nearly every position there is from front of house to back. It was in these professional kitchens where I learned the breadth of the culinary world unlike anything I had known before. I honed a great deal of cooking and baking skills through on the job training and considered a career as a chef.
God had other plans for my career and took me to a more corporate role. One of those jobs led me to Mr. Right and started the trajectory of our little family as we are today. Mr. Right also has an affinity for all things culinary and much of our relationship has been built around food.
When our first daughter was born I quit work to be a full time mom. To fill the time with a toddler we spent many afternoons baking together. She started walking and baking almost simultaneously. Through this time I grew to love baking and sharing the fruits of our labor with family, friends and neighbors.
As our family has grown I’ve continued baking. Adding traditions like home made birthday cakes, cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning, and the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe to my repertoire. Each of our kids enjoy baking along side me and has a love for sweets just like their parents! Join us and share our love for food, baking, hospitality and community at one table.
What We Do
I have a heart for hospitality and welcoming others into our home and to our table. The desire to share my love for food and Christ with others culminated in this site. This is where I bring all things local, homemade and delicious to the community. Come to The Community Table, rest, be nourished and enjoy a taste of home.
Local Roots
I have a love for local businesses and fresh, unprocessed foods. I aim to source all of my ingredients from local farms, mills, and stores. This doesn’t result in the cheapest or fastest options but it undoubtedly tastes better, increases nutrition and supports other entrepreneurs. I aim to share my sources for all things local but also encourage you to source what is local to you. Big box and online retailers have their benefits but they can’t compete with the quality, experience and relationships built among your local farmers and suppliers.
